The combined Internal Medicine/Pediatrics (Med/Peds) residency training program at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School is a 4-year program designed to train physicians to provide comprehensive medical care for adults and children. In existence for over twenty years, the Rutgers NJMS Med-Peds program philosophy is encompassed by four words: Education, Diversity, Community, and Vision.
The focus of our Med-Peds residency is education, not service. Education specific to Med-Peds is a continual focus and is reinforced in our combined clinic setting in which we see both adult and pediatric patients. In addition to weekly continuity clinic sessions, the Transitional Care rotation and the 3rd year Office Practice elective provide opportunities to enhance the combined experiences. Additionally, we have a monthly Med-Peds Educational Conference in which we have one of our own residents or a guest speaker discuss a relevant topic to the practice of adult and pediatric medicine. The Rutgers NJMS program also provides patient diversity with exposure to three unique hospitals; public, private, and government, allowing you to experience the many faces of healthcare.
Our residents come from a wide range of medical schools, spanning from New Jersey to California. We are a cohesive community of residents. Our quest for knowledge and commitment to patient care is evident in our work, our board pass rate, and our interaction with fellow residents, attendings, and hospital staff.
