NMPRA holds a national meeting once a
year, in conjunction with the AAP NCE (National Conference and Exhibition).
The AAP NCE provides an excellent venue for additional networking and
educational activities both with the Med-Peds Section of the AAP, as well as
the AAP.
The Med-Peds Section of the American Academy of Pediatrics is proud to be participating in the National Conference and Exhibition (NCE) in Washington, DC, October 17-19, 2009. We are especially excited to be celebrating 40 years of Med-Peds as a medical specialty.
Get a PHD: Pediatrician Health Day
As part of the celebration, the Med-Peds section has organized a complimentary program for pediatricians called, “Get a PHD: Pediatrician Health Day.”
During the NCE in the exhibit hall on Saturday, October 17th, thru Monday, October 19th, members of the Med-Peds section will provide attendees with one-on-one information about current adult screening and treatments related to the most common health scenarios faced by pediatricians wanting to improve their own health care.
Topics available for discussion include: hypertension; cholesterol screening and therapy; breast and bone health; timing and need for colon, cervical, and prostate screening; and how to choose an internist.
CME Program
The Med-Peds section has an afternoon CME program open to all participants on Sunday, October 18th.
We will be celebrating the history of Med-Peds, while discussing the present and looking to the future of the specialty.
Past and present leaders pivotal to Med-Peds’ success will be present.
Practice issues - - including research in the office, the electronic health record, recertification, and common clinical practice scenarios - - will be highlighted during the program

Musings of a Distractible Mind "Reading this blog you may get the impression that I can’t make up my mind if I am serious or silly. Yet I think we all need a portion of both in our lives. I do my best to keep the balance and hope you enjoy the experience."
Stories in Medicine I am a physician practicing Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. This blog chronicles my life first as a medical student, then as a resident. It is about stories of medicine. If you think 'Scrubs' or 'Grey's Anatomy' tells the stories of a resident's life, then here is what it is really like (for one resident, anyway).
