NMPRA NATIONAL ELECTIONS 2011

Message from the President

Happy Spring Med/Peds!
What an exciting year it has been! I am sad to see this academic year come to an end as I have thoroughly enjoyed working with ALL of you and what an amazing NMPRA executive board we have had this year. However, it is that time of the year to start looking for new faces and med/peds residents who are interested in running for a NMPRA officer position. Every Spring, NMPRA solicits nominations and elects officers for the following academic year. Nominations are being sought for the positions of President-Elect, Treasurer, and Secretary (2). The president-elect is a three year term serving as president elect, president, and immediate past president. All other officers are subject to a one year term. Terms of office run from July 1 through June 30 of each year. Below is a brief description of each office, along with email contact information for the current office holders. Feel free to contact any of the current executive board members for information about their specific position.
This is an amazing way to get involved with the National Med-Peds Community. Not to mention, you will receive the opportunity to work with a great group of people who are deeply committed to the improvement of our specialty - Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. Voting will take place via email and all NMPRA resident members will receive on-line voting instructions via our listserv. ONLY resident members or fellows may vote. Following the tally of votes, an announcement of 2011/2012 NMRPA officers will be made.

President-Elect
When the President is absent, is unable to act, or refuses to act, the President-Elect performs the President's duties. When the President-Elect acts in the President's place, the President-Elect has all the President's powers and is subject to all the restrictions upon the President. The President-Elect performs other duties as assigned by the President or Board. The President-Elect will serve as President upon the completion of the President’s term and then as Immediate Past President once his or her term is completed as President.

President-elect is responsible for handling RSVPs and the annual case competition for our annual meeting as well as other projects delegated by the President.

As President, one is responsible for planning the annual national NMPRA meeting, working with the MPPDA, AAP Med-Peds Section to coordinate projects, coordinating website updates, leading monthly conference call meetings, etc.

Applicants should be current PGY1 or PGY2s. It is preferable that the applicant is a current PGY1.

Current President-Elect: Kim Paisley, MD(president-elect@medpeds.org

Current President: Jennifer McEntee, MD, MPH ( president@medpeds.org)

TreasurerThe treasurer has charge and custody of and is responsible for all of NMPRA's funds, receives and gives receipts for moneys due and payable to the NMPRA, deposits all moneys in the name of the NMPRA, writes checks and disburses funds to discharge the NMPRA's obligations, maintains the NMPRA's financial books and records, and prepares financial reports at least annually. The treasurer is responsible for preparing the yearly NMPRA budget, securing corporate sponsorships/advertising and other fund-raising efforts as necessary, and managing and securing appropriate investment opportunities.

Current Treasurer: Chris Sepich (treasurer@medpeds.org)

Secretary (2)
The Secretary gives all notices as provided in the bylaws, takes minutes of the meetings of the Board and members and keeps the minutes as part of the corporate records. The Secretary is responsible for coordinating the preparation and publication of our quarterly newsletter, The Perspective. In addition to this, the secretary is also responsible for archival of any photos, documents, as well as minutes onto our web server. We recently have divided this position into two positions and are thus seeking two secretaries for next year.

Current Secretaries:

Sarah Thornton (meeting minutes, archives, program representative): secretary@medpeds.org or sathornton02@gmail.com

Chris Thrash (quarterly newsletter, meeting minutes, and archives): cthrash@mednet.ucla.edu

Please feel free to email the NMPRA President at president@medpeds.org if you have any additional questions about the election process.

I am a physician practicing Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. This blog chronicles my life first as a medical student, then as a resident. It is about stories of medicine.
